Situated in the centre of Milan within a historical building under a preservation order, the apartment is laid out on one floor It has been conceived as a single unit, where the passage from one room to the next is made fluid by means of sliding doors and glass panels.
The core of the apartment is a large living area designed to be an open space that can be divided up by floor to ceiling doors. It consists of a living room and a kitchen with an area for dining The sleeping area has been made into a more intimate and reserved space, separated by a spacious corridor with doors leading to the bedrooms. The entrance is situated in the middle of the apartment.
The rooms are large and flexible, featuring views of the garden framed by anthracite grey window frames. This allows the garden to become a decorative element, adding value to the interior space.
Each room is distinguished by a choice of materials purposely designed to make each room unique Linking them is a parquet floor in warm, natural shades, which has been laid differently in the hall and living spaces. This means that the entrance-corridor becomes the fulcrum around which the spatial composition rotates, so much so that it is treated as a narrative space with the owner’s works of art hanging on the walls.
Each room is finished with different materials that coordinate with one another: the living area is characterised by a sophisticated, warm pale grey and the bedroom is decorated in shades of beige to match the plant-patterned wallpaper. The entrance-corridor is wallpapered, in a natural material, in shades of green. Within these spaces it is the furnishings and accessories that accentuate the colour, in line with the general concept of the project.
The furnishings of some of the rooms have been purposely designed and made to measure, while others have been chosen with the owners in a harmonious and balanced juxtaposition of modern and vintage pieces.
